Tattoo After Care Instructions

The following is a list of instructions that should be followed after getting a tattoo in order for the tattoo to heal properly and minimize the chance of any infection. Please follow carefully.

1 Leave your bandage on for about an hour or so; BUT NO LONGER THAN 6 HOURS! Once you have removed the bandage, immediately wash your tattoo with a mild antibacterial soap (liquid pump Dial, Dove, etc.)using your fingertips only. Rinse thoroughly with water, and pat dry with a paper towel. (DO NOT USE A WASH CLOTH OR TOWEL! YOU DO NOT WANT LINT AND GERMS FROM A TOWEL TO GET INTO YOUR NEW TATTOO!)
2 You need to wash your tattoo at least 3-5 times a day for the next 2 weeks.
3 Around the 3rd and 4th day a slight scab will be forming. DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH YOUR TATTOO WHILE IT IS IN ITS HEALING STAGE! Aquaphor medicated skin cream is the best to use (you can get this at walgreens, kroger, walmart, etc.) Or you may use a small amount of unscented lotion (Lubriderm, Curel, etc.) Put a small amount on your tattoo 1-2 times a day, but continue washing!
4 No swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, bathtubs, etc. for about 2 weeks until tattoo is completely healed.
5 Do not use Vaseline or Neosporin to try and heal your tattoo. If you have any problems or questions, please call 812-981-8286.
